What is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of energy healing that can help alleviate physical, emotional, mental and spiritual stress. It is a way to ‘tune-up’ your energy to the healthiest state allowing for healing to take place.
Reiki is a gentle and safe healing practice that is geared towards removing any energy blocks in our system caused by emotional, mental or physical stress and pain.
Reiki Symbols
Reiki symbols are used in the practice of Usui Reiki, an alternative form of healing developed nearly 100 years ago in Japan by a Buddhist monk named Mikao Usui. The word Reiki is derived from two Japanese words: rei and ki. Rei means "higher power" or "spiritual power." Ki means "energy." Put together, Reiki can be loosely translated as "spiritual life force energy."
Reiki Masters
Mikao Usui, or Usui Sensei as he is called by Reiki students in Japan, was born August 15, 1865, in the village of Taniai in the Yamagata district of Gifu prefecture, which is located near present-day Nagoya, Japan.
He had an avid interest in learning and worked hard at his studies. As he grew older, he traveled to Europe and China to further his education. His curriculum included medicine, psychology, and religion as well as the art of divination, which Asians have long considered to be a worthy skill.
Reiki Levels/ Attunement
Reiki is easy to learn, with only three levels of training to reach the level of Master:
-
1st degree: Also called Reiki I or Shoden in Japanese. This is entry-level Reiki training where you study Reiki history and much more.
-
2nd degree: Also called Reiki II or Okuden in Japanese. You learn how to use the first three Reiki symbols and how to perform distant Reiki techniques.
-
3rd degree: Also called Reiki III or Shinpiden in Japanese. This is the Master Teacher level of Reiki, and the class may be separated into two parts.
My Reiki Story
I became interested in metaphysics when I was very young after I had a near-death experience at age nine which led me to become a Seeker After Truth. Over a period of 30 years or so, I studied and became a practitioner of Biofeedback, Sant Mat (Study of the Masters of the East), Shamanism, Golden Light Meditation/Emotional Processing, Sweat lodge Ceremonies, therapy, rebirthing, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
Reiki Benefits
There are many wonderful benefits of Reiki. Reiki is a very simple process but usually produces quite profound effects. The main purpose of a Reiki treatment is not only to support the physical body, but also to promote a positive mind so you can experience more joy in life. The great thing about Reiki is that one does not have to be ill to experience the benefits.
Some come to Reiki to help with their energy levels, managing the stress of daily life or when transitions are happening in their lives. Others will ...
